    Bad backs, new hips, stiff knees, a prosthesis. Reaching your ankles can hurt or throw off your balance.

How it works

Four steps. Zero bending.

Sit down or lean on something steady. Cuffez does the reaching for you.

  1. Set it down

    Put Cuffez on the floor next to your chair or anything steady you can lean on. Loosen your waistband and lower your pants.

  2. Slide in the cuff

    Lift one leg and slide that pant cuff between the post and the gripper.

  3. Step on the pedal

    Press the pedal with your other foot. The gripper clamps the fabric and holds it tight.

  4. Pull your leg free

    Lift your leg straight out and flex your ankle. The pant leg stays put. Repeat on the other side.

Always sit or support yourself while using Cuffez.

The clever bit

No springs. Just magnets.

Two magnets set to push each other apart hold the arm open, so it is always ready for your cuff. Step on the pedal and it closes. Lift your foot and it opens again. Nothing to wind, stretch or wear out.

Our story

It started with cardboard and magnets.

Cuffez was invented by a disabled U.S. veteran who wanted to get his pants off without bending over or asking for help. So he cut a prototype out of cardboard and stuck magnets on it. His partner, a lifelong manufacturing engineer, printed a real one the very next day.

Six months and a lot of versions later (taller, shorter, bigger pedal, hooks, no hooks) the design settled into the one you see here.

Do I need to sit down to use it?

We recommend it. Sit on a chair or bed, or lean on something solid like a counter. Always keep yourself supported.

Will it work with my prosthesis or wheelchair?

It was designed by a veteran with exactly those situations in mind. If you can place your foot on the pedal, or someone can press it for you, it can hold the cuff. Try it and tell us; we read every message.

Can a caregiver use it for someone else?

Yes. A caregiver can slide the cuff in and press the pedal, which means much less lifting of a leg.

What kinds of pants does it work with?

Most everyday trousers, jeans, slacks and pajama pants. It is not meant for very slippery fabric, and go gently with delicate clothing.

Does it help with shoes?

Yes. The side hooks on the head help ease off loafers and sneakers once the laces are loose. They are not meant for boots or high tops.

What is it made of? Will it break?

Tough matte PLA, 3D printed in our California shop, with rubber feet and magnets. Keep it out of hot cars and direct sun, since PLA can soften in high heat.

When can I buy one?

What is the warranty?

120-day warranty on defects, 30-day money back, and 2 years of parts support.

Is there a word for this?

There is. Taking clothes off is called doffing, and occupational therapists have a whole toolkit for it. We just think this part should not need a toolkit.
